theLab House of Prayer

This is the key initial step in the establishment of a house of prayer in the Detroit region!

There is an awakening and gathering of what I call pavement people in the Detroit area—people, as in 2 Chronicles 7, who are willing to hit the cold, hard pavement and glorify God.

tAs soon as Solomon finished his prayer, ufire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, vand the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord's house. 3 When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “For he is good, wfor his steadfast love endures forever.” (2 Chronicles 7:1-3, ESV)

Are you a pavement person—one who places no demands on God, who couldn’t care less about personal comforts and who is provoked to spur this region on in repentance, surrender, fervent intercession and passionate worship? We want to meet you!

theLab House of Prayer is a place to boldly declare the Word of the Lord and cry out night and day for revival in our region!

Join us from 7-9pm every Thursday night beginning tomorrow, April 4th, 2013.

theLab House of Prayer and Revival Church meet at CENTRAL CHURCH, 1529 E. 12 Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071.

Lion’s Paw • Janice VanCronkhite • April 6-7

An inspiring conference speaker and prophetic activator, Janice challenges the church to be released into the fullness and anointing of God’s creativity and to see his love and supernatural power exhibited through every kind of earthly artistic medium. Her depth of wisdom, favor and experience practically illuminate how to overcome obstacles and continue the journey into creative fullness.

New Detroit region church! Revival Church North is coming!

Revival Church North is a NEW church plant/satellite church currently in the planning stage!

image

If you are an adrenaline junky and would like to participate in a NEW CHURCH PLANT, this may be the adventure for you!

Revival Church North is currently in the planning and development stage, and we will launch as a prayer-fueled, brand new, baby church in the coming weeks.

The plan is to plant it the same way we did Revival Church (the mother ship!)… EXCEPT, North will launch on Sunday mornings instead of Sunday evenings.

We are not asking any of our current staff or leaders to participate with the Burton family in this new venture (they are already SUPER invested at Revival Church and I don’t want to add to their plates).

So, though there may be a few that do choose to help in this new mission, it’s fully possible that we’ll start by meeting in a small office or in our home… just Amy, the kids, me and anybody else who may wander in! Yep, it’s back to worship with CD’s, fervent prayer and big vision with a handful of Upper Room style people!

The Burtons will be moving to our new home in Washington Township in the next 3-6 weeks, and shortly after we’ll start hunting for a small property to start the new church in.

Interested in more info? Want to join with us in this exciting new mission? Contact me directly at [email protected]!

What about the Mother Ship?

imageEverything will remain as it has been at Revival Church! The vision will keep developing, theLab is still key and the dreams will keep coming!

And, yes, I’ll be as invested (or more!) than ever! I’ll minister in the morning at our new satellite church and in the evening, as usual, at Revival Church!

(By the way, have you registered for theLab School of Fire?! Don’t delay! Register at www.revivallab.com today!)

AND, have you seen our BRAND NEW WEBSITE?

This one is for potential visitors… they can visit the site, learn about Revival Church and let us know they are coming! We’ll be ready for them with a gift for their first visit!

Barbara Yoder: Important opportunity for Revival Church to raise $1000 to sow into TheCall Detroit on 11/11/11

Barbara Yoder shared a key message to the churches of Michigan to sow $1000 into TheCall Detroit on 11/11/11

Barbara Yoder : Lou Engle : TheCall Detroit

I’m so blessed at the heart of giving at Revival Church!

Amy and I are continually excited about the culture of faith here that will end up impacting the economy and history of revival in Detroit!

Barbara Yoder is calling for 1000 churches to sow $1000 into TheCall which will be held at Ford Field in Detroit on 11/11/11.

This resonates in my spirit, and I want to boldly invite you to give today toward this life altering event.

You can give online at www.detroitrevivalchurch.com/donate.

Be sure to LEAVE A COMMENT to indicate you are sowing toward TheCall. Everything that is raised with that comment will go toward TheCall.

If we raise more than $1000, the excess will be donated there as well.

Our heart is for the city church of Detroit to explode! Revival is coming and as we invest in the process we are sure to experience blessings beyond our wildest imaginations!

Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

The ministry’s next phase : Developing our team

The vision is becoming more focused and we’re gathering together an expanded ministry team.

I have been trembling and awakened to a new place since the first of the year—since we have gone to a new place in prayer at Revival Church. I am SO EXCITED about the testimonies that are arising from theLab and other ministries. People are COMING ALIVE!!!!!

The purpose of this message is to call together an expanded and deeply connected and focused team of revivalists to join us in the ministry.

I’m raising up a brand new ministry team.

Some of you have been with us for quite some time—and I’m asking for you to sign up again… for a brand new and intense phase of ministry.

Here’s what the plan is:

  • The Revival Church/John Burton Ministries team will be deeply involved in the dynamic and continually developing mission together several times a week.
    • theLabThis is the primary mandate at the moment and must be the main focus for all of us. Those running with us as a part of the ministry team will be traveling from church to church together every Friday night. Additionally, it’s imperative to make every noon prayer meeting that you can. Keep in mind, I’m calling EVERY pastor, intercessor, revivalist and burning man, woman and child of God in Detroit to be at EVERY Friday night prayer meeting. We certainly need as close to 100% participation from those connected to Revival Church and our ministry as possible. We are modeling a part of the reformation in the church for the rest of the city.
    • 1000 Intercessors—As we all do this together, we’ll be sounding the alarm for every person in the Detroit region that’s called to initiate revival to also attend theLab. We’ll be modeling this lifestyle of intercession and urgency to the region and all spreading the word and calling the 1000 leaders into position. The call isn’t to ‘sign up’ but to ‘show up’.
    • Ministry Events (other venues)—An important element of the vision is to take the fire into other venues. The ministry team will be with me as I minister in other churches to impart the burning of the Holy Spirit, to cast the vision of theLab and the 1000 Intercessors and to pray throughout the event as I speak. This morning at Salt River was an excellent example. It was powerful and we had some of the people ministering revival as a part of the service. However, we were under manned. We’ll have to become more strategic as we plan on future events. It’s important for the entire team plus the entire church body to stay together to advance the cause of revival. **My heart was to have every person associated with Revival Church with us this morning to encourage Salt River… many people were missed… it wasn’t the same without you!!!
      • NOTE: I need people to step up to handle certain roles such as marketing, setting up speaking engagements, working on travel arrangements, intercession, etc.
      • NOTE: The next ministry event that we need every team member to serve in is the Fire in February event in Dearborn. We’ll be launching the event with theLab style fiery prayer and intercession. With only 60 people or so at Revival Church, we absolutely need every one to show up for each service. REGISTER at www.awakeningnet.us.
    • Ministry Events (hosted by theLab)—This is a huge vision and it will require a huge team. Right now we need the team (which should be at least 30 people strong) to form and get to work searching for property, hosting prayer events, connecting with potential guest ministers, networking with other churches in the area, etc. Everything from small conferences to large stadium events will need everybody to work hard together.
    • Revival Church—This is the briefing for the rest of the week. What is happening at theLab and at ministry events will be briefed on here, prayed through, etc. Additionally, the call to action will be sounded here and we’ll all ensure we’re on the same page and ready for our instructions and assignments for the rest of the week. This will be a place of wild and free worship, zealous prayer and clear impartation.

Contact me at [email protected] or 313.799.3473 to discuss your participation. This new team includes people that have been on my staff for quite some time and it will include many others who are ready to clear their calendars and invest with passion into the pursuit of revival in Detroit.

Our Current Situation in Detroit

Our Current Situation in Detroit

Amy and I and the Burton family would be honored if you would read through this and contact us this week. God is really doing some amazing things around here!

Last May we made a seemingly crazy decision to move against the massive flow of people out of Detroit, and to move here to help prepare the region for revival.

Since then we’ve developed some amazing and important relationships, started Revival Church, ministered in churches and raised up a solid team of revivalists.

The reason for the mass exodus out of the Detroit area is the tragic level of unemployment. I’ve heard it said that there’s ONE JOB for every 90 people looking for a job!

We knew we were taking a huge faith step, and with little guaranteed monthly finances we’d have to live on the miraculous giving of our friends and partners.

Those of you that know me understand very well that I embrace a lifestyle of thankfulness, joy and faith. The following situation is not a complaint or an expression of frustration, but a simple and very real analysis of our current situation.

  • Since I had to start working outside the church, my actual time involved in ministry has been reduced to near zero (the goal is to be invested 40-60 hours a week, and I’m currently ministering less than 5)
  • Church plant coaches say that a key and initial goal is to raise enough money so the planter doesn’t have to divide his time and energy by working outside of the church. (The time necessary to be involved in prayer, study, pastoring, networking, developing, creating teams, marketing, etc. is quite extreme… it’s way more than a full time job in itself.)
  • Due to the high time requirements and demands of church and ministry leadership, Steve Gray of World Revival Church in Kansas City recently said, “…every pastor, if they are working a job outside the church, their goal should be, as fast as possible,to get rid of that job."
  • My energy and focus has been divided significantly due to the need to get a job (again, thankful, but wisdom demands an evaluation of this)
  • I currently work until around 6pm every day, and then work for my own design business most evenings from 6pm to bedtime and also on Saturdays.
  • I’ve been preparing my sermon for Sunday’s Revival Church service the hour before I leave for service every Sunday, which just can’t continue.
  • The preparation of revival requires a massive time commitment, and I don’t want my part of the mission to remain on hold for much longer. The work to be done is huge, and I must give myself to it fully.

We are boldly asking for you to financially partner with our ministry. We need to raise at least $3000 a month to replace my job, and another $1000 or so to replace my design business.

You can give via credit card at www.johnburtonministries.com/donate. If you setup recurring monthly donations, that would be a huge blessing. If you’d prefer to make a special donation, that would bless us as well!

The donations are tax-deductible. If you’d prefer to send a check, just contact us and we’ll get you the info. My email is [email protected] and Amy’s is [email protected]. My phone is 313.799.3473.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. We’d love to hear from you and share more about this huge mission in Detroit!

We love you!

John, Amy, Skylar, Parker, Jet and Ella

A Revival Family

God is doing something wonderful in Detroit!

I’m so blessed to be a part of a family of revivalists—people who love each other a lot, and who are moving deeper into the fire of revival together.

At Revival Church, we’re passionately calling zealous, hungry people together who are ready to lock in and have a blast praying, serving and developing a foundation that will withhold the pressures of a massive move of God.

You are invited to join us! We would absolutely love that!

The plan is simple—we gather, we pray, vision is cast and we grow together, at the same pace toward strength and maturity.

We’ll also be attending another fiery church TOMORROW morning at 10am. Salt River Christian Church in Chesterfield. I love the converging of churches and ministry… the city church is a huge part of our vision! See you there, and then at Revival Church Sunday evening at 6pm!

Salt River Christian Church

Chesterfield, MI 48047

They are located 1 mile east of I – 94, 1 building south of 23 mile on Seaden Drive.

Jonah-A Prophetic Message to the Church

First—we’ve been involved in fundraising to support our ministry for years, and we understand the challenge quite well.image

Some of our leadership team felt it was time to communicate our current situation, and ask for twenty new partners to donate $100 per month.

Michele Perry, a missionary to Sudan, mentioned that she feels Detroit just may be a more difficult mission than even Sudan. Amy and I are missionaries to an area that is a challenge to even the most seasoned missionary.

We currently receive zero financial support from churches or organizations, and only around $500 per month from personal supporters. The economic crisis has hit us hard!

Contact me at [email protected] if you have questions. You can donate to use at www.praytherevolution.com/donate. PLEASE BE SURE to alert us via email about the donation so we can ensure it’s designated for our personal support. Otherwise it will go toward the general fund of our Colorado ministry.

You can setup recurring donations or give a one time gift. Thank you!

Tonight at Revival Church was powerful… extremely powerful.

And here are the notes so you can follow along:

Revelation Unto Mission—Jonah’s Story

I. The Word of the Lord

a. It’s troubling to me that people attempt to live their lives outside of God’s Rhema activity.

i. Jonah 1:1 (ESV) Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

ii. Of course, Jonah was being called into a world changing mission, and it’s a mission he would not even know about if he didn’t hear God.

iii. This issue plagues Believers around the world. The Word is rare to them.

iv. Let’s look briefly at the story of Samuel and Eli.

v. 1 Samuel 3:1-11 (ESV) 1 Now the young man Samuel was ministering to the Lord under Eli.

1. Note that Samuel was involved in ministry to God.

vi. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision. 2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.

1. He was where the ark of God was… just being in God’s presence changes everything!

vii. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said, “Here I am!” 5 and ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down.

1. God’s voice was so clear that Samuel mistook it for a human.

2. When God talks, we should know him.

3. If our spouse were to show up at the house, we wouldn’t require their ID and a DNA test before we let them in. We know them. In similar fashion, we should know God!

viii. 6 And the Lord called again, “Samuel!” and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

1. Did you get this? Samuel was involved in ministry, but did not know God! He never had an encounter, never communed with him! He never heard his voice!

ix. 8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the young man. 9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”

1. This isn’t a simple statement! This is a key goal of this ministry and of God—to get his servants to hear!

x. 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.

1. The mission was about to be revealed.

b. Now, back to Jonah and his impending mission

i. We want to do all we can to avoid living a Jonah 3:1 life.

ii. Jonah 3:1-2 (ESV) 1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.”

1. What happened between Jonah 1:1 and Jonah 3:1 is enough to destroy most people.

2. Chapter two is the prayer of Jonah… he’s is begging God to rescue him from his hell… it’s a common cry of Believers everywhere.

3. Let’s look at Jonah 1:1.

c. Jonah 1:1-2 (ESV) 1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.”

i. Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian empire, and one of the largest. It was three days journey in circumference.

ii. Some estimate that 2,500,000 people lived in Nineveh.

iii. It’s also presumed that as a prophet, Jonah had but this single mission.

iv. He was born for Nineveh.

d. Being open to God’s voice in our lives will result in a lifestyle of inconvenience, challenge and impossible mandates. It will cause huge, huge problems in our lives, and it will cause damage and bring calibration to our lifestyle.

i. But, like Samuel, as we understand our roles to bring reformation and calibration to the church and to the world, we’ll see that our words won’t fall to the ground. We will function in power as we hear God and release decrees and declarations.

ii. Unlike Samuel, who was residing in God’s presence, and responded to God’s voice and delivered a difficult message to Eli that had every opportunity for offense, Jonah ran from God’s presence. The message and the mission was too costly.

iii. Jonah 1:3 (ESV) But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went on board, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord.

iv. Jonah 1:4 (ESV) But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up.

1. Some of you might be there.

a. Your goal? Hear God’s voice and run in the right direction. Simple.

b. Is everything around you breaking up? Are you on your way to your mission or moving away from it?

v. Jonah 1:5 (ESV) Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep.

1. Jonah was asleep, full of apathy, seeking out comfort.

2. This is plaguing the American church! We have created a place of comfort instead of advancing in a prophetic mission!

3. God is sending the waves and that boat is close to breaking up!

e. Now, watch this—this same scenario is about to be played out in the Church.

i. Jonah 1:6 (ESV) So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.”

ii. Authorities are going to come to us for help—will they be disgusted as they find the church asleep?

iii. They will cry out, “Wake up! Perhaps your God will be the answer!”

iv. Now, watch this.

v. Jonah 1:7-10 (ESV) 7 And they said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.

1. It will be CLEAR to the world why devastation has come.

2. The church tends to blame the liberal left, the homosexual agenda, abortionists… but, judgment comes first to the house of God!

vi. 8 Then they said to him, “Tell us on whose account this evil has come upon us. What is your occupation?

1. That is a critical question! What are we occupying ourselves as a prophetic people with? The world will ask!

vii. And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?” 9 And he said to them, “I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.” 10 Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him, “What is this that you have done!” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them.

1. They knew! Pagan idolaters’ knew Jonah was fleeing God’s presence!

viii. The world is angry… and this next statement is eye opening:

ix. Jonah 1:11 (ESV) Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

1. So life can get better, what must we do to the Christian church?

2. They are mad!

3. They are looking to eliminate us not because our values collide, but because we have failed to bring life to their reality!

x. Jonah 1:13-16 (ESV) 13 Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to get back to dry land, but they could not, for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them. 14 Therefore they called out to the Lord, “O Lord, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not on us innocent blood, for you, O Lord, have done as it pleased you.” 15 So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. 16 Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows.

f. Take Two:

i. Jonah 3:1-4 (ESV) 1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” 3 So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey in breadth. 4 Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”

1. That is an excellent verse to use in regard to ‘failed’ prophecy.

2. Of course, we know that Nineveh was not overthrown.

3. Today, heresy hunters would be all over Jonah and decry him as a false prophet.

4. Often, a purpose of prophecy is for it NOT to come to pass!

ii. Jonah 3:5 (ESV) And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

1. God’s plan worked.

2. All of Jonah’s running and fear and disaster could have been avoided… his mission could not have been more simple… he simply went to a city and voiced a single sentence: In forty days Nineveh shall be overthrown! Mission fulfilled.

3. His whole life was about saying that single sentence and saving a city!

g. As Kingdom people respond or fail to respond, authorities will be impacted.

i. We see the captain of the ship seeing out Noah as he slept.

ii. We see the king of Nineveh respond as Noah obeyed.

iii. Jonah 3:6-9 (ESV) 6 The word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8 but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

h. The last chapter of Jonah reveals what may have been the problem all along.

i. He was so distraught after the miraculous taking of an ENTIRE city!

ii. How can this be? Because of his selfish nature… his prophecy didn’t come to pass… the city was not destroyed… and he was concerned about his reputation… he didn’t want to be called a false prophet.

iii. He seemed to be more about reputation and self-preservation than he was about his Father’s business.

iv. This uncrucified quirk cost him dearly.

A letter to Detroit area pastors and church leaders

Many of you know that we are praying for key connections, 1000 new intercessors in the Detroit area and an infestation of new church plants.

The outpouring that’s coming is going to rock the entire world—and we have to get ready!

Detroit has a sufficient army of believers, but we don’t know each other! We’re not organized.

I wrote a letter to the pastors and church leaders in the entire Detroit region, and I’d love some help!

If you know a Detroit area pastor, apostle or other leader, would you direct them to read the letter on our site at www.detroitrevivalchurch.com/pastors?

That would be a HUGE help!

All of us at Revival Church want to pray for and serve the greater city church with a lot of love and passion!

Last Sunday’s “Bring your blanket to church” event was sweet! So, we’re doing it again! This Sunday at 6pm bring your blanket and get ready to soak and pray and worship in the presence of God!

Here’s all the info that I received:

Dear Praying Friends,
Bishop James Williams has asked me to lead a prayer time called Midnight Cry at Spirit and Truth Ministries this Friday at 11:00 pm til about 1 am. You can read the details below. This is an important opportunity to seek God for the metro region.
I would love for you to come and join in this united calling out to God. This "city" church is enlarging its vision for the whole region. I SOO appreciate Bishop Williams larger than normal desire to see God affect the region and build bridges to the suburbs! Will you encourage him by standing with him and the sweet people of Spirit and Truth?
The details are below. Let me know if you can go. Feel free to extend this invitation to others.
Humbly,
Eric Moore

Greetings Eric and thank you for consenting to share with us this coming Friday in our Midnight Cry prayer service. The month of January is our Month of Outpouring. It is a time of consecration when we come together to worship and pray and to hear prophetic direction from the Lord for the course of the new year.
This year we are having special services every Sunday afternoon and the Midnight Cry services every Friday at 11:00 p.m. Scriptures tell us that Paul and Silas prayed at midnight from the Roman prison and God responded by opening the prison doors and loosing their bonds. We expect God to open doors and loose bondage over His people in this new season.
We really have no set agenda. Last week for example, each of our Intercessors, who have been given specific assignments to cover individual ministries of the church, were given opportunity to lead prayer in their specific areas of responsibility. Then, we heard from a visiting evangelist and a visiting Bishop. I gave some closing words of prophecy and prayer and we were done.
I'm looking for you to help us expand our prayer beyond our ministry and our people and help us pray strategically over this region. You and your guests are free to move as the Spirit leads you. I'll begin and we'll just move from there. We're usually done about 1:00 a.m. but that's not set in stone – a little before or a little after is fine.
Hope this helps. See you Friday.

Blessed to Prosper in the Year of Harvest (Lev.25:22; Ps.126:1, 5)

Bishop James A. Williams, II.
